Vokk vs. Wispr Flow: speech to text from $1 a month

Adam, maker of Vokk · September 24, 2026

I used Wispr Flow before building Vokk. The reason I made my own app was pretty simple: I wanted to talk to my Mac without paying $144 a year.

Vokk turns speech into text in the app you’re using. Hold a key, talk, release. It costs $12 a year, or $1.50 if you pay each month. There’s a 14-day free trial, with no card required.

Wispr Flow offers more than Vokk does. The question is whether you want those extras.

What does each cost?

Pay monthly $1.50/month $15/month
Pay annually $12/year ($1/month) $144/year ($12/month)

USD prices checked September 24, 2026. Taxes may apply. These are the standard paid plans, not promotional or discounted rates. See Vokk’s plans and Wispr Flow’s current pricing.

On annual billing, the difference is $132 a year. If Flow’s free plan covers your needs, though, it costs less than either paid option.

I want to choose when my words get edited

Most of my speech goes into conversations with coding assistants. I’m explaining what I want, adding context, or correcting something that didn’t work.

I want that explanation transcribed. If I want it shortened or reorganized, I can ask for that afterward.

Vokk doesn’t run the transcript through a separate AI rewriting step before inserting it. That doesn’t mean perfect word-for-word accuracy: speech recognition can still get a name wrong or choose punctuation I wouldn’t have chosen. It means there isn’t an additional writing assistant polishing the result.

Wispr Flow describes its product as turning speech into polished writing. It also offers editing tools such as Transforms. Those can be useful if you want help revising text. I prefer to choose when that editing happens. Wispr Flow’s editing documentation

When I’d choose Wispr Flow

Flow supports Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. If you want one service across those devices, that’s a reason to consider it. Its plans also include features for meetings and teams that Vokk doesn’t try to replace. Wispr Flow plans

If you already like Flow’s output and use those features, switching just to save money may not be worthwhile.

When I’d try Vokk

You use a Mac. You want to speak into Claude, Codex, Cursor, email, or another text field. You’re happy to review the text yourself. You want a small monthly bill.

That’s the job I built it for.

Try it with the things you actually write: a long prompt, an email, a few names or technical terms. See how much correction you need and whether you like the result.

Try Vokk free for 14 days. Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 13.3 or later. Paid plans include up to three Macs.
